Small
Some times we can feel small. It's not necessarily a negative thing, but it could go south very quickly if we do not continually keep God ever before our faces and the right perspective. So lets be very clear, small is not the same nor does it equate to insignificant. Let me say it again, small and slow is not the same as insignificant and is not the absence of the resurrection power of Jesus at work in our lives. Small and slow does not mean we are forgotten or void of a grand purpose. Although, the enemy would have us believe that lie, wouldn't he? Our culture also leads us to buy into that same deception. However, we must rise up and not cast off our confidence in God. He is working not only within us but around us.
We need to return to God and ask him to help us redefine small and slow. We need the breath of God to breathe on us and give us his eyes and perspective of our and for our lives, including the small and the slow.
Whether people are willing to admit it or not, I'm pretty sure we have all felt small and slow at some point. We've all experienced seasons where it seems like we are moving slow as turtles while every one around us seemingly appears to be crushing it and zooming pass us like jack rabbits. First, don't negate what you are feeling. Honor it because it's real and valid to you. And God cares about that. Second, while you own your emotions and feelings, please do not allow your emotions, feelings and limited view of this isolated moment be the last thought or your conclusion of the totality of your life and thereafter. Look up once again and fix your eyes on your Savior. Third, remember not only his goodness, salvation and rescue but his loving kindness towards us. And rest in him.
Patiently wait and sit in his presence. Don't pass over this sacred moment - he's shaping, molding and forming us. But even more beautiful and what our hearts truly long for is this, we are being HELD by the God almighty, the one that knows us and forever loves us. I can't help but imagine as we are squirming, antsy, restless, ready to break forth, the Father is delighting over us and says, "Oh child, I love you. Soon enough you will fly and soar. But for this moment, let me hold you. Let me behold you and love on you. Let me gaze upon you and sing over you until you confidently walk in me and until you can too behold yourself as I do. Would you just settle yourself and nestle your head in me. Just sit with me for a while. Let my joy be complete in you."
So the truth is, small and slow is not the problem. Perhaps it's our perception and perspective of small and slow. Because the truth is, we are small and slow in the grand scheme of all things when compared to our Almighty God; affectionately called humility, which is the key ingredient to true success and greatness (in God's kingdom). God's word says this,
"Humility, the fear of the Lord, results in wealth, honor, and life." (Proverbs 22:4)
"Before his downfall a person’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor." (Proverbs 18:12)
